Practice
Seventeen years on the same forty kilometres of ridge.
Halden Build Co. has worked Bangalow, Federal, Coorabell and Newrybar since 2009. We run six to eight houses a year and no more — the director is on every site every week, and that is the number that allows it. Most of our work comes from architects we have built for before, and from people who walked through a house we finished for someone else.
- CapacitySix to eight builds a year, capped deliberately.
- ContractsFixed price. Monthly cost reports, itemised to the trade.

How a Halden house goes up
-
Stage 01
Foundations
Site cut, piers and slab. Four to six weeks, weather depending.
-
Stage 02
Framing & Roofing
Frame up, trusses set, roof on. The house takes its shape in about three weeks.
-
Stage 03
Roof & Interiors
Lock-up, then linings, joinery and finishes. The longest stage by a distance.
-
Stage 04
Landscaping
Driveway, planting, handover. We come back at three months and at twelve.
